I have always been interested in human nature and human morality. Where does our moral compass come from? Where do our notions of good and bad, our sense of justice and fairness originate? Do we come into the world as amoral creatures without any sense of right and wrong, without any conscience and only learn to be good?
I kind of leaned towards the idea that we arrive as a “blank slate” and societal norms makes us what we are. So I was totally surprised by the psychology studies that show babies exhibit moral thought, moral judgment and moral feeling at a very young age.
These studies are presented in this great documentary titled “Babies: Born to Be Good?” produced by the CBC.
CBC, please produce more documentaries similar to this one that explore the notions of justice, fairness and human nature.
